sw depot access failed on HP-UX 11.00
I get a problem accessing SW depots that we accessed many times in the past (that is before unwanted data removal... hoops ;-)
One or two weeks ago we made a restoration of the hard disk on which we stored our own product depots on a HP-UX 11.00 station (with nasat01 hostname).
The restoration procedure has been correctly performed (or seemed so).
When I try to get depot list, I get this:
swlist -l depot
# Initializing...
# Target "nasat01" has the following depot(s):
/dev/rmt/0m
/home/mtsat/nmcu/installation/depot11
/var/spool/sw
/home/ncc/sd/ncc_10.13.27
/home/ncc/sd/prereq/system_V3.0
/home/ncc/sd/prereq/depot11
/home/billard/tmp/JetDirect11
/tmp/patch/depot
When I try to list the content for depot registered as
/home/mtsat/nmcu/installation/depot11, I get this:
swlist -s /home/mtsat/nmcu/installation/depot11
# Initializing...
# Contacting target "nasat01"...
ERROR:
The expected depot or root does not exist at "/home/mtsat/nmcu/installation/depot11".
ERROR:

When I run the follwing command:
swverify \* -d @ /home/mtsat/nmcu/installation/depot11
some error messages are recorded into /var/adm/sw/swagentd.log:

I guess something has not been correctly configured during data restoration.
when I am looking into /home/mtsat/nmcu/installation/depot11/catalog directory, I don't find any INDEX file; is it the source of my problem or is it something else ?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Best regards.

Try to
chmod -R 755 depot.dir
and look for the result

Re: sw depot access failed on HP-UX 11.00
Very sorry for the late response but I submitted my problem to my help desk with no success up to now.
Concerning your suggestions it seems that the problem is somewhere else:
- when using "swlist -l depot" command, I can see that /home/mtsat/nmcu/installation/depot11 is effectively registered as a SW depot
- concerning access rights, I got the following rights for the corrupted depots:
drwxrwsrwx 132 billard mtsat 3072 Jan 10 17:37 depot
drwxrwsr-x 372 billard mtsat 7680 Dec 13 10:33 depot11
maybe it is not recommended that a depot belongs to someone else that superuser ?
thanks for your help anyway.
Best regards.

Re: sw depot access failed on HP-UX 11.00
"/home/mtsat/nmcu/installation/depot11" is not a valid depot.
/home/mtsat/nmcu/installation/depot11 is a directory
try this
I have downloaded patches in /app/oracle/admin/patches.
# swreg -l depot /app/oracle/admin/patches/
ERROR: There is currently no depot software on host "ux01" at location "/app/oracle/admin/patches/".
# swreg -l depot /app/oracle/admin/patches/B3394BA_B.11.00.03_HP-UX_B.11.00_32+64.depot
* Beginning Selection
* Targets: ux01
* Objects:
/app/oracle/admin/patches/B3394BA_B.11.00.03_HP-UX_B.11.00_32+64.depot
# swlist -l depot
/app/oracle/admin/patches/B3394BA_B.11.00.03_HP-UX_B.11.00_32+64.depot
Hope this helps,
Robert-Jan

Re: sw depot access failed on HP-UX 11.00
- there must be actual content files in subdirectories under the depot directory
- there must be the ./catalog/INDEX file, plus other admin content there as well.
I would say that the data recovery must not have been complete. The depot is not recognizable in its current condition.
