swap files delete help

I have 2 G swap device file fails and it has been removed from system. This is a 2G out of a 8G disk, and I want to obtain the 2G back.

My question is whether it is safe to delete those hundreds of file in that directory.

If you are ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY SURE that the swap is no longer in use, then it should be safe.

Does it show up when you do a 'swapinfo -tam'? If not, then you SHOULD be OK.
