Swap reserved space & more %wio
Hi,
My system is showing %wio more & Also in swapinfo it is using all of the reserved space but no device space.
Attaching o/p of sar & swapinfo.
what will be the cause of %wio more & swapinfo is using reserved space.
Is there anything related with performance?
thanks in advance.

Re: Swap reserved space & more %wio
Reserved swap is OK. Every process reserves the swap. Unless your are swapping out, reserved swap is OK. (Check vmstat and check po column out out. Large numbers here can be a problem.)
WO is about wait io on devices. Do you see any disk devices waiting on i/o? sar -d and high server time is a problem. The disks that show high i/o waits need to be analyzed futher.

There is no substitute to HARDWORK

Re: Swap reserved space & more %wio
Shalom HP-UX,
Your pariority on swap space is 1 for all devices. If you'd like to use device swap versus filesystem swap which is slower, you should have a higher priority number and therefore less liklihood of it being used.
Your wait i/o may be from swapping too much or other i/o activity that is unrelated.
The bottom line is if you are paging to disk you need to either lower system workload (yeah right) or increase memory.
