swap space utilsation.
Hi
swapinfo -mt shows the below output
Mb Mb Mb PCT START/ Mb
TYPE AVAIL USED FREE USED LIMIT RESERVE PRI NAME
dev 1024 102 922 10% 0 - 1 /dev/vg00/lvol2
reserve - 922 -922
memory 1126 916 210 81%
total 2150 1940 210 90% - 0 -
it shows device swap used is 10% and pseudo swap is 81%..I would like to know what reserve space is for..?in the above case total swap space utilisation is 90% and not changing for more than a month..do i need to increase device/file system swap..?
Please advise.
Shankar.

Re: swap space utilsation.
Shalom Shankar,
Reserve swap space is the swap space processes reserver when they start. This is just in case they need to be swapped out of memory.
Resrving swap space is not a problem. Paging processes in and out of swap is.
See vmstat to see if you have an issue.

Don't worry, nobody shelling me.
