swapinfo and buffer-cache
A L-class system is used to backup in some DLTs using OmniBack.
The problem is that swapinfo reports me a lot of used memory in the "memory" line. But that value increases day by day; i.e., after rebooting the percentage is 15%, the next day is 31%, and so on... That value can reach 92% or 97%.
My account engineer says it is because of that buffer-cache is very used (OmniBack opens a lot of files).
But my question is...
Is the amount of memory used by buffer-cache included in the "memory" line of swapinfo output ?
Is not Buffer-cache reduced automatically when memory pages are requested for user processes ?
If this is true, the memory used by buffer-cache wouldn't appear in "memory" line of swapinfo output.
Thanx a lot in advance

Re: swapinfo and buffer-cache
I forgot to say that the swapinfo reports those high values in any time, not only when a backup is active and it doesn't decrease.
