swinstall error, using a .depot from a remote host.
Hi,
I have entered swinstall. Specified the remote host and found the depot. (it is registered)
This post looks alot like my problem, however i can see the depot in swinstall..
I get this error:
The source you have chosen is a tape device. A tape device must be
local to the single marked target. Since the hostname of the tape
device does not match the hostname of the single marked target, this
source is not allowed. Please choose a different source.
I created the .depot my self, and it works perfect locally but i want to make a remote installation.
Or is it the swpackage command i need to do something else?

Re: swinstall error, using a .depot from a remote host.
HI Johnny,
There are two posibilities:
1. The depot on the remote system is a tar file (Collection of depot files tarred together into single file)
2. The depot is redirecting you to the Tape device on the remote system.
In both the above cases swinstall won't allow you to install.
You need to extract the depot on the TAPE to the directory of your remote server and register it using "swreg". Then you will be able to access it over the network.

You need to know a lot to actually know how little you know
