swinstall fails with no compatible products error
I have tried several products but I receive the same error every time.
Here is the command and response I am receiving.
# swinstall -s /var/tmp/openssl-0.9.8e-hppa-11.11.depot \*
======= 09/10/07 10:07:32 EDT BEGIN swinstall SESSION
(non-interactive) (jobid=WRKSTN1-0040)
* Session started for user "root@WRKSTN1".
* Beginning Selection
* Target connection succeeded for "WRKSTN1:/".
ERROR: Could not apply the software selection "*" because there are
no product variations that are compatible with the destination
host(s).
* Software selection failed for
"WRKSTN1:/var/tmp/openssl-0.9.8e-hppa-11.11.depot".
ERROR: No software has been selected.
ERROR: Cannot continue the "swinstall" task.
* Selection had errors.
======= 09/10/07 10:07:33 EDT END swinstall SESSION (non-interactive)
(jobid=WRKSTN1-0040)
I have tried restarting swagentd and I still get the same response.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Mark

Re: swinstall fails with no compatible products error
Check the site you downloaded it from.
It would seem you are missing either a pre-requisite or a product such as httpd server that openssl is supposed to work with.
Or you are wrong about the host operating system, and you seem pretty sure about that.

Re: swinstall fails with no compatible products error
http://hpux.asknet.de/hppd/hpux/Languages/openssl-0.9.8e/
All depots are made for PA-RISC 2.0.
What workstation system you have?
Older models have PA-RISC 1.1 chips only and cannot run 2.0 applications.
You can download the source and compile or have a look at this:
http://h20293.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=T1471AA
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: swinstall fails with no compatible products error
uname -r reports B.11.11
Ivan
You are correct about the version so I must apoligize for using a bad example. I am also receiving the same error when trying to install FireFox 1508 and GTK 2.6.8.00.
Torsten
Thanks I hadn't considered that, here is my info
Workstation J6750
CPU Version PA 8700-8700 CPU 3.1

Re: swinstall fails with no compatible products error
Consider a broken download.
I would download again. If you ftp the depot from a win$ system, make sure mode is set to bin.
Review the swagentd.log file for error details too.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
