swinstall issue

I have a patch server with the lastest Golden patch registered here. Patch server installs this patch just fine. I have two remote servers that think the depot is a tape drive and therefore will not install depot because it is not local. How do I correct this issue?
I give "Points"

Re: swinstall issue

Hi Tom:

I believe that you need to 'swreg' your depot so that your remote systems can see it.

Re: swinstall issue

I did "swreg -l depot /path/Golde......"

They see it but when I select the patch it pops up a box and tells me the remote server thinks it a tape drive....

Local server has no issue with it. I d/l it from HPs site.

Re: swinstall issue

Can you post the full swreg command ?

Perhaps you have registered Golden???.depot file as a depot.
In this case you can install it only locally.

Fore remote installations register and create local depot directory and copy all files from depot file to that dir with swcopy.

Re: swinstall issue

Yes, I did because I thought that was correct

swreg -l depot /path to file/goldenfile

Re: swinstall issue

swcopy said it can not copy to the same server as the source.

swcopy /tmp/GOLD???.depot /sysadmin/swdepot/

Do I have to unregister it?

Re: swinstall issue

swinstall

You then have a menu driven interface to select the server and path that the patches lie on...

no need to copy them again.

If you did not swcopy the patches into a registered depot on serverA then simply ..

swinstall -s serverA:/path/to/patches

Re: swinstall issue

Use the following syntax:

swcopy -x enforce_dependencies=false -s /tmp/Golden.depot \* @ /path/depot
