swinstall of LDAP

Am trying to install LDAP client software on HP rx2600 server (11i v2) and am getting the following error -

"bduxdv01:/tmp/CIFS/B8725AA_A.02.01.02_HP-UX_B.11.11_32+64.depot": You do not have the required permissions to perform this operation. Check permissions using the "swacl" command or see your system administrator for assistance. Or, to manage applications designed and packaged for nonprivileged mode, see the "run_as_superuser" option in the "sd" man page.

I have checked the permissions on the file (755) and can not see any other problems. The software has been installed successfully on HPrp3400 servers running 11i v1.

Does anyone have any suggestions.

Re: swinstall of LDAP

Shalom,

1) You are root?
2) This may be an nfs mount and you may not have priviledges on the remote host. Copy the depot to a local filesystem and install from there.

Re: swinstall of LDAP

Hi,

Could you check your hostname/ip-address configuration.

# nslookup hpux_hostname
# nslookup ip_of_hostname

should have the same output.

Re: swinstall of LDAP

Try stopping and restarting the swagentd:

/sbin/init.d/swagentd stop
/sbin/init.d/swagentd start

Re: swinstall of LDAP

Hi

I have had this issue before and like what Pete suggested I did the same and it worked for me. For some reason even if swagentd is running this issue comes us but stopping and starting helps

/sbin/init.d/swagentd stop
/sbin/init.d/swagentd start

Re: swinstall of LDAP

Hi,

Can you show us the output of swacl -l.

Also check the permissions on your swacl file

-r-sr-xr-x 11 root bin 2289664 Nov 3 2003 /usr/sbin/swacl

Re: swinstall of LDAP

Hello,

You can do the following,

# swagentd -r

It will restart the SW agent daemon.
