Solution
If I recall swinstall is some what hostname sensitive.
try
nslookup hostname
make sure it resolvs correctly. If you changed the hostname make sure you changed it in /etc/hosts.
You may also want to restart the swagent ..
run
swagentd -r
try
nslookup hostname

You may also want to restart the swagent ..
run
swagentd -r

Re: swlist and swinstall are sluggush
Hi:
The SD (Software Distributer) tools rely heavily on DNS and hostname resolution.
Begin by restating the 'swagentd' daemon:
# swagentd -r
Make sure that your '/etc/hosts' contains your correct hostname.
If you did'nt use '/sbin/set_parms' to change your hostname (which causes a reboot), do that too.
Verify that your DNS servers are resolving names:
# nslookup some_host_name
Regards!

Re: swlist and swinstall are sluggush
check files under /var/adm/sw/security, make sure the hostname is correct. Any update to these files, you need bounce the swagentd.
