swlist client for PC

Hello all,

Is there available some sort of swlist for Windows?

Not that I'm aware of. It's an HP-UX exclusive product.

Re: swlist client for PC

Well, no and yes.

No in the sense that swlist-like functionality is not *included* *in* MS-Windows (I assume you mean MS-Windows when you says "Windows").

Yes in the sense that the *HP OpenView* version of Software Distrubutor (i.e. not the *bundled* SD-UX which is indeed only for HP-UX) *is* available *for* PCs/MS-Windows. See for example the "Remarks:" at the tape of the (HP-UX) swlist(1M) manual page.

Control Panel Add/Remove Programs has always worked pretty good for me. It lists patches, and is designed by the people who designed the OS.

Re: swlist client for PC

Oops, I didn't mean of swlist as a utility for listing the stuff I have on my local PC, rather for listing HP-UX CDs. So, the question would be: is there a sort of swlist command I can use to see what SW I have on a specific application *HP-UX* CD, instead of mounting it on an HP9000 box or sharing and accessing via CIFS. (I've been dealing with HP for a long by now, this question tries to prove there's no such programme ;-).
The only workaround would be X:/catalog/contents/pfiles/contents, right?

Re: swlist client for PC

Hi Igor,

EACH of the Application CDs has a table_of_contents file on them that lists ALL the apps on ALL the application CDs.
You can just refer to that file - no matter which CD you have loaded.

Re: swlist client for PC

On each CD there is a CD_TABLE_OF_CONTENTS file that has a listing of what is on that ENTIRE application CD set with sections for each CD in the set.

Open that file with MS Word or Wordpad on your PC.
