SWLIST

I issue the following command on a fileset:

swlist -l fileset -a state | grep -i isee

the fileset shows up in a "transient" state.
Any idea what this means?

Re: SWLIST

Hi,

The SD commands transition products and filesets through a number of states.

During installation, software is transitioned through the following states:
o non-existent
o TRANSIENT
o INSTALLED
o CONFIGURED

During removal, software is transitioned through these states:
o CONFIGURED
o INSTALLED
o TRANSIENT
o non-existent

When packaging or copying software into a depot, the software is transitioned through the following states:
o non-existent
o TRANSIENT
o AVAILABLE

When removing software from a depot, the software is transitioned through these states:
o AVAILABLE
o TRANSIENT
o non-existent

If a task fails during any TRANSIENT state, the state is set to CORRUPT.

man 5 sd for more information, or access the man page from this link:

Hope this helps. Regards.

Re: SWLIST

Hi Robert,

Could mean one of 2 things:

1) The software did not install or configure correctly - retry.

2) The index has become corrupted - rename it & install/reinstall something to rebuild it.

Jeff

Re: SWLIST

Hi,

I think that you may have to reinstall the software again. Check for any dpendencies also.

Re: SWLIST

Hi Robert:

It appears that the item didn't install properly. Run 'swinstall' for the item with the reinstall options armed:

-x reinstall=true -x reinstall_files=true

Regards!
