Syncing one Ignite Server's image to another Ignite Server

Syncing one Ignite Server's image to another Ignite Server

My scenario: I have an Ignite Server in a "test" environment from which to ignite other systems in that test environment, which is on a 172.xx.xx.xx network segment.

I also have an Ignite Server in our production environment, residing on a 10.xx.xx.xx network segment. Since the production Ignite Server is far more up to date with patches, etc I now would like to "copy" this Ignite image to my test Ignite Server. What would be a good solution to do this, keeping in mind the network segragation? What files at a minimum would have to be copied? I could possibly move the test ignite server to the production ignite server network segment, if that were to make this process easier.

Thank you in advance, Andy

Hi Andy

Why not take the image of the server on the 10.xxx to a tape and then to the other server?

Paula,
are you talking about a make_tape_recovery image? Will that re-create my test server as an ignite server (which it is now)?

Hi,
What patch level are you talking about?
The patches in an Ignite Image? or the Patches installed in the Ignite server?

In the first case You can straight away copy the Image from production server to test server and make the changes in the /var/opt/ignite/INDEX file in test Ignite server.

In the second case you can create a recovery tape of production server and restore the same in test Ignite server provided the models are same.
