Re: sys admin
If you can telnet to the machine from your NT machine, you can run the line mode SAM.

Re: sys admin
From your NT workstation you can bring up a telnet window from which you can invoke sam. Using Hummingbird, ReflectionX, etc, you can throw your display onto the NT for the gui version (if you prefer)

Re: sys admin
export DISPLAY=
run xhost + on the unix server.
Make sure your Unix system can resolve the host name of your NT server or use the IP address of your NT server.
Once you have setup DISPLAY run sam or whatever x applications you want to run. It will display on your NT workstation.

Re: sys admin
You can use telnet, but the display sometimes is not good, or you can try third party s/w.

Re: sys admin
You can telnet to the machine and run sam over there. If you have a graphics based software like Exceed loaded on the NT machine then you can run the Graphical version of sam also.

Re: sys admin
As mentioned above you can telnet to your HP-UX box and use the text version of sam or you can use the GUI version via an Xwindows server on the NT box. Some popular ones are Hummingbird Exceed or Reflections X, both which are around $50-100 per license I believe.
Here's a link for more info:
http://www.hummingbird.com/products/nc/exceed/
http://www.wrq.com/products/reflection/pc_unix/rx/
Hope that helps.

Re: sys admin
If you connect to the unix server via telnet and want to export the display to your work station, make sure the port no 6000 is opened in the firewall side if your windows workstation is behind the firewall.

SolutionLook at this link
http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0x502dc7f6c54cd61190010090279cd0f9,00.html
"The web based replacement for the SAM kernel configuration area
for 11.22 now has all planned functionallity coded. A special
11i version of this package is available for beta testing.
Some new features are: Web based interface,
Historical graphs of usage data,
The ability to set alarms before
kernel limits are reached,
Parameters described in man pages
The new GUI is being designed for HP-UX 11.22
but we have a beta copy for 11i. We don't know how long
we will be able to offer the 11i version of this software
so if you want to try it you should download it soon. You can
download a beta version from:
http://software.hp.com/products/KCWEB/index.html
After downloading and installing the depot
you can run the command "kcweb" or start it
from SAM.
kcweb only works on 11i, and you must have
Apache (version 1.3.19.22) installed on the
system.

Re: sys admin
http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/
Its Free !!
You need to install the Unix version onto your server and then run the vncserver daemon (make sure you set up the password for VNC) on that machine.
You then install vncviewer onto you NT workstation and connect to the HP-UX machine with it. This will give you an "X" Windows session from which you can run the GUI version of SAM.
vnc is also great for taking control of other windows or Linux based machines a bit like terminal services.
