SysInfo warning message

SysInfo v6.16 reports the following on one of my internal disks:

Missing diags on /dev/dsk/c4t6d0

I can't find any reference as to what this means. I used stm to check the disk in question, and it reports no issues. This disk is the mirror for my boot disk.

Anyone knows what this means?

Re: SysInfo warning message

If I search the internet I find a version 8 already - may an update help you?

Does it log anything to syslog?

Hope this helps!

Re: SysInfo warning message

I never used sysinfo, so I don't have an idea what it does.

But I have an idea - the only diags that are realetat to a specific boot disk are the offline diags.

Check and compare the lifls output or both disks, e.g.

# lifls -l /dev/rdsk/c3t15d0
volume ISL10 data size 7984 directory size 8 99/10/28 15:23:53
filename type start size implement created
===============================================================
ISL -12800 584 240 0 99/10/28 15:23:53
AUTO -12289 824 1 0 99/10/28 15:23:53
HPUX -12928 832 800 0 99/10/28 15:23:53
PAD -12290 1632 1700 0 99/10/28 15:23:54
LABEL BIN 3336 8 0 06/04/25 18:01:35

This system has no offline diags installed.

But this system has:

#lifls -l /dev/rdsk/c0t6d0
volume c0t6d0 data size 7984 directory size 8 06/03/06 20:28:11
filename type start size implement created

No problem at all!

If you want to install anyway, go to http://software.hp.com search for offline diags (PA), get the ISO and install the depot from this media.

Hope this helps!

Re: SysInfo warning message

hi,

It probably means that the diagnostics where not copied/updated to the mirror disk when the root mirror was done.

you would normally do a mkboot command which has the updatediaglif in it, depends upon server 32/64bit.

you could check both root disks with the lifls commands

#lifls -l /dev/rdsk/c#t#d#

do this on both disks with correct dev files

that aside, its only for offline diagnostics and in reality how often would you use them?

I would not worry to much about it

Re: SysInfo warning message

Shalom,

If in fact this is a problem from an attempted mirror of the root disk, I offer a checklist and some advice:

Checklist:
http://www.hpux.ws/?p=21

Advice:
You have had problems. Schedule a test. Make sure that system will actually boot off the alternate disk. That is the only way to be sure.
