syslog check tools - which one?
Which one to choose? Does anybody have experiences on this? Is HP providing a similar tool in .depot?
My aim is to get alerted (email) if unusal even logged in log files.
Any idea will be appreciated.

Re: syslog check tools - which one?
The ones I have worked with were BMC Patrol and CA ServiceCentre, both these are purchased products and can be tailored to page and e-mail on errors showing up on a server.
I am not sure of any freebie tools that would do this unless you stick to scripting it yourself.

Re: syslog check tools - which one?
You will need to reroute all your hp-ux boxes to log to a central log server.
*.info,mail.none @logserver
should be added to /etc/syslog.conf on the client systems, but not on the log server itself.
then run this tool as a daemon.
tested and work in production environment.
just modify the email addresses.
