Syslog-ng config on a HP-UX

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone would be willing to post an example of a syslog-ng.conf file on a HP-UX (11i) box? I have been muddling through the documentation for half a day now, and figured it wouldn't be much use trying to figure out something other people with more skill and experience already have. Most config-examples I found (on the internet) were for a Linux box, and I haven't found any websites on a HP-UX config (or the differences between that and a Linux-setup).

I also would like to know how to catch logging from middleware such as Oracle, Ingres, Uniface, Amtrix etc.

On another note; do any of you use any specific options when starting the log-daemon? If so, why?

Thanks a whole lot of bunches in advance,

John

Re: Syslog-ng config on a HP-UX

What on earth is a syslog-ng.conf file ? I cant find it on any of our 11i servers - or even in installed software. Is this different from /etc/syslog.conf ?
Im from Palmerston North, New Zealand, but somehow ended up in London...

A syslog-ng.conf file is a file you need when you use syslog-ng. Syslog-ng is a highly configurable system-logger and not standard issue on HP-UX (unfortunately).
