syslog not logging

My syslog is not logging any messages, I checked both the syslog.conf as well as rc.config.d and both files are ok.

Have you verified that the syslogd daemon is running.

# ps -ef |grep syslog

If it is not running try restarting it.

# /sbin/init.d/syslogd start

You can then try sending a test message to syslog via logger.

# logger This is a test message

have you check, that your /var partition has enough free space?
