syslogd for HP UX 11.0

Is there any substitute (from HP or any other vendor) for syslogd on HP UX 11.0. We employ syslogd to log from our application processes and things have been working well for the last 2 years. Recently we have upgraded the environment to HP UX 11.0 and all of sudden the application performance has gone down the drain, and all this degradation because of syslogd not performing as well as it performs on UX 10.2 I would be indebted if any one of you could tell me a way to configure syslogd to get a better throughput or tell me if there is an alternative that I can try out. A prompt advice will be most appreciated.

syslogd simply logs a few messages to the syslog file (or whatever is configured). For syslogd to have any effect on performance, you would have to be logging thousands of requests per second--which means syslog.log will be gigabytes in size in minutes. Is syslogd consuming massive amounts of time and/or disk I/O? Does your syslog.conf file send data to another system? Or are other systems sending data to this system?
