syslogd
I want to kill the syslogd service and restart it. The process is stuck and I want to do I "ill -9" How do I start it back up again??

Hi Jade,
Run it as "syslogd -D" and it will start.
Also, you can run /sbin/init.d/syslogd stop and /sbin/init.d/syslogd start

You can either kill the process ID of syslogd or run /sbin/init.d/syslogd stop and similarly you can either start with /sbin/init.d/syslogd start or just run /usr/sbin/syslogd -D
