Re: system down and hang during reboot

Hi:

I think you need to place a call for hardware support (on-site). Call 1-800-633-3600 and have your processor serial number (or system handle) ready.

You have some HW errors. Call HP support.

Re: system down and hang during reboot

It could be a hardware problem....but I am thinking you may want to check on your patches. Make certain you have the patches for proper system control of your UPS unit. If you are not patched for this correctly, when you have a power disruption, enough to have your UPS kick on.....then you will have a problem when power is restored and the system then can't 'stay up' because the UPS wants control and wants to take it down.... I saw something similar to this on a 10.2 box.
Sorry I don't know the patches for 11.

Just a thought,

Re: system down and hang during reboot

You had a power loss, go the the GPS console and type he for the menu. You can then look at the status logs, sl. Check for other messages to see if there was a major loss or if you lost conection with one of the hotswap power supplies. There are three cords to check on the back middle part of the server for connection, then pull the plastic cover off the fron and see if the 2 or 3 units in fron have a green light in them. Then a call to HP might be a little more helpful.

Re: system down and hang during reboot

Your Processor Support Module 0 fade away. The Power monitor of the N-Class does not power up the system with a bad PSM. You need to replace the PSM before you are able to bring the box back up
There is no good troubleshooting with bad data

Re: system down and hang during reboot

we called HP support. they came on site Power cycle the system, switching off and on the power button. system came up just fine.
we checked the log files and there was no message that can point to an error at the time system went down. we looked at the power suppliy led,s they were steady green even before starting the system. so do not know what exactly happenned. what caused it or what can be done for future use. DLT attached to the system was being used by omniback server for backing up the said system.

Re: system down and hang during reboot

Looks like the system didn't do a normal shutdown. When the server came up, it may have not found sufficient power needed to boot up the system. One reason can be the H/W did not go through a powercycle process before. What did you HP engineer suggest? Check the output of power supply throughly inorder to avoid similar problems in future. Check power supply cables too.
