system information
I am new to administration on HP servers and need to find out this information:
1. I need to find out if my server has an ANSI C compiler. And whether or not it's installed.
2. I need to find out if my server can transfer files through FTP in ascii mode. If it's only set up to do binary, how do I change it preferably to do both ascii and binary.
Thanks!
-Tim

Re: system information
as root
swlist -l product | grep -i ansi
This will list software.
A default installation will let you do ftp transfers in ascii mode. You need to see if the ftp server is enabled.
Fastest way to do that is to ftp as a non-root user.
ftp hostname
ftp ip_addresss ex ftp 192.168.0.30

Re: system information
swlist | grep "ansi" (logged in as root)
for ftp
ftp (host ip address)
log in
and you can type ascii which will set file transfer to ascii mode.
