system nodename length

Hi,
I have an nPar-ed rx8620(Integrity) running two n-partitions with 11iv2.
I want to assign nodenames to the partitions
with something like this..

-npar0
-npar1

There is a restriction on hostnames to a length of 8 characters, but
that used to be with 10.20 and previous versions.

Does this still hold?Don't we have the freedom to assign nodenames > 8 characters?
Can someone help me out?
Thanks
Swami

Re: system nodename length

Hi:

You have the option of installing a new product which lifts the restictions formerly seen:

Be careful to read the caveats.

And eventhough you can there is a very good chance that you will break legacy software. I assume that is an example because underscores (though common in Windows) violate the DNS rules.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Scares me!
Of course is just a place-holder.
