system profile

Hello,

I have just inherited and HPUX PS-RISK machine and the only thing I know about it is that has been partitioned into two virtual machines. What I am would like to know, is there a command/utility that will give me a full list of hardware/software on the system? I am predominately interested in the hardware side of things but software version would be nice to know to.

Cheers

Adrian

Re: system profile

under /opt/parmgr/bin there is an executable parmgr. run parmgr to see the partition details. It is a graphic utrility for cpmplex configuration...

try this and of course you should read the manual for the particular hardware model as well for various partition configuration possibilities / limitations etc...

Re: system profile

You can get all software installed on the systems usign swlist command.

To know know the hard informations use ioscan command to do it.

To get to know about systems information then,

use the script over,
http://www.unixguide.net/scripts/hpsysinfo146

It will give more informations too.
Easy to suggest when don't know about the problem!

Re: system profile

The parmgr for hard partitioning the complex.

Also check the document
http://docs.hp.com/hpux/pdf/T1335-90001.pdf
for virtual partitioning details if the server has virtual partitions within hard partition.
there are more virtual partition manuals at docs.hp.com

hoper this helps....

Re: system profile

Adrian,
Also if you have Ignite Installed on your system then print_manifest would be the best way to collect the information for both Hardware and Software.

# /opt/bin/ignite/print_manifest

Hope that helps.
Regards,

ps. you are calling those systems as PS-RISK which is actually PA-RISC..i hope it's a typo
RISC stands for "Reduced Instruction Set Computer"
You need to know a lot to actually know how little you know
