system status for swinstall
A very basic question. I was doing an upgrade this weekend from HP-UX 10.20 to 11.00. I did a (shutdown now) to take the system to single user mode. Mounted my /usr, /tmp, /opt directories and started my swagentd from the /sbin/rc2.d directory. Is this all that I need to do for the setup. 3/4 through the upgrade, my swagnet log showed a
ERROR: RPC exception: "Communications failure (dce / rpc)" 03/31/01.
Everything was local cdrom was in /SD_CDROM. 10.20 patch set is as of June 2000.
The upgrade continued but I had to manually reboot the system for the swconfig to run and then I couldnt log in at the console ( I am running a trusted system).
I love make_recovery. Put the tape back in and restored to 10.20.

Re: system status for swinstall
Remove all patch from 10.20 with swremove.
Run swinstall and with CD OS 11.00 select Upgrade.

Re: system status for swinstall
I don't know if this is possible for your setup, but I recommend a cold install over
an upgrade for the best result.
