sysyetm shutdown

Dear Sir,

My HP-UX 11.1 has automatically shutdown after a Raw power fluctuation and when i started the server, no shutdown report has been generated.

I have taken the GSP log and I found following error:
ALERT LEVEL 13:system hanged due to popping.

so, What is the reason of shutdown the server
and why it hasn't not generate the log???

thanks & regards,

Yogesh

Re: sysyetm shutdown

If it shut down due a power problem (ie. lack of power) then there was no chance for anything to be written to the log.

How is it supposed to generate anything if there is no electricity?

P.S. This is the exact reason you should have the machine on a UPS.

Re: sysyetm shutdown

Shalom,

It couldn't write a log because you can't see to write in the dark.

It may seem flippant but try and write something down when the lights suddenly go off at night. You can't.

Neither can your computer. Patrick is right, if the system is of any importance it deservs power protection.
