hi all
i'm trying to create ignite tapes but would like to use the cleaning tape first before creating all the tapes.
i have a brand new cleaning tape. can somebody tell me if there's anything special i need to do to use the cleaning tape,or do i just pop it in and the rest is easy sailing(hopefully)
also, i'm using tapes that's been previously used before to create my tapes, do i need to format the tapes, reinitialize or something like that?
any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks

Solution
Just insert the Tape.. It will do the rest. You can use cleaning tape for certain period of time Read the instruction on the cleaning tape.
For Ignite tape you can use the used tapes if they are in good condition! But I would suggest you to have good new tapes for ignite since this tapes are very handy during disaster.
Goodluck,
-USA..

Re: tape cleaning
Hi:
Just insert it and it will do its job and eject the cleaning tape; however; most tape drive manufacturers do not reccomend that you clean tapes unless the drive indicates that it is dirty. The cleaning tapes are slightly abrasive and you are thus adding wear to your heads.

If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: tape cleaning
Jedd,
Its and automatic procedure...:)...
Just insert it and forget it.Once it will clean the heads , it ill automatically come out of the drive.
Regarding used tape for backup, you need not have to format tape for taking backup on used tape. If it is fbackup, it will wipes of all the previous data on tape. For other backup tools, if you do not apecify any options for appending data to tape, it will also earse everything on tape.
So no need to format the taep.
