Tape drive issue.
Dear Guru's
OS-HPUX 11.23
Tape--HP C7438A
I have installed the tape drive and its getting detected in ioscan -fnC tape
tape 0 0/7/1/0.0.0 stape CLAIMED DEVICE HP C7438A
/dev/rmt/0m /dev/rmt/0mnb /dev/rmt/
/dev/rmt/0mb /dev/rmt/c1t0d0BEST /dev/rmt/
/dev/rmt/0mn /dev/rmt/c1t0d0BESTb /dev/rmt/
But while Iam checking the status its not giving online so that backup got faileds.
Drive: HP C7438A
Format:
Status: [0]
File: 0
Block: 0
Please help me to sole the issue.

you will get the same message if the drive was set offline w/ a
mt -f /dev/rmt/0m offl
remove the tape and reinsert it. try writing a tar file to it.

You will get this above results, when tape is not loaded or the tape as been ejected, due to some error's in the backup.
mt -f /dev/rmt/0mn status --> out shows the tape ONLINE (meaning tape is loaded) read to fire the backup.
Question:-
How are you performing your backup..? by any backup script.?
