Re: tape drive
what command you have tried.
try ioscan -fnC tape.
check for the stape driver in kernel.if not there add the driver to kernel and rebuild it.

SolutionDid you try to reboot the server?
If not, try! (Of course your server can reboot no trouble and effect to your application!)
Then you can check with SAM:
Go to sam-->Kernel Configuration-->Drivers-->Check for the stape parameter....
The status *must be IN* status.
If the status is OUT, you have to modify to In and then reboot the server.
And final: make sure that all of the cable were connected and correct and some time the reason is: the cable was not tight...:(
See on the attachment!
Goodluck to you.
Regard,
HoangChiCong.

Re: tape drive
ioscan -funC checks the output which was there already.it will not check the current status.(after the last reboot or ioscan command if any problem occurs -funC will not show)
you have to try ioscan -fnC tape only.
try stape is available in system file.
grep stape /stand/system

Re: tape drive
you can use SAM to check the status of your tape drives. SAM -> Peripheral Devices -> Tape Drives. If you use the Add option it explains all the steps required.

Re: tape drive
As you said the status is *OUT*...
OK! Very easy:
1. First, mark the stape
2. Go to Action in menu
3. Add Drive(s) to Kernel
Then answer *Yes* then reboot the server.
Note that: you must reboot your server when the system ask.
Otherwise, you have to use kmupdate command to update kernel parameters....
But recommend: should reboot when system ask.:)
Post again if you want.
Goodluck
