Tape library STK 9714 on HP-UX 11.00

Hi,
I have attached StorageTek 9714 tape library to HP-UX 11.00 server running on 9000/800/L1000-44. Library is connected to a Fast wide differntial controller. HP-UX 11.00 is not recognizing the tape drive or robot within the storageteck library. I had connected the same tape library to HP-UX 10.20 and system immediatley recognizes as STK 9714.

Do i have to install additional drivers or i have to any other work to make HP-UX 11.00 to recognize the tape library?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Tape library STK 9714 on HP-UX 11.00

Hi,
look with ioscan for the driver used on HP-UX 10.20 system kernel and check with sam if the same driver is loaded in the HP-UX 11.00 one.
Maybe you have to load the right driver only.

good luck.

If ioscan lists tape and autochanger devices as UNKNOWN then you surely need drivers into kernel. If it does not show anything for the library then there's connectivity problem - check if library has HVD (FWD) interface to connect to HVD controller. I guess this can be the case as soon as L-class by default has only LVD adapter, but HVD adapter should be bought as addon card

I agree with Eugeny. you probably need a HVD adaptor, in this case a A4800A card. (All of this assuming you only have the single drive in the library)

Once you have the hardware listed in the ioscan output then you may need to worry about the correct driver(s) being installed. After that you will need to configure a robot device. See this posting where I have a document attached which helps with nearly all of this.
