tar : limits ot the directory
Does anyone knows the limits of the diretory tar can backup?
I've a directory which include 20 subdirectory. Does tar or cpio can support it.

tar and cpio both support this.
I am not aware about any such limit present in tar or cpio.
i am using tar for much large number of files/directories without any problem

The limits can be, if your filesystems or tar are not supported largefiles. Nothing else.

Hi,
the only limit i can think of is a FS limit
In this case you'll have to install the "largefiles" option using fsadm (Online JFS)
