What is the purpose of this parameter?

I've used it in the past for applications that run across a WAN. I believe its the interval (in ms) that the system checks and verifies the tcp connection.

Also, do a man page of 'ndd' and see Technical Knowledge Base Document AUSRCKBRC00003430 for tcp_keepalive implementations in HP-UX 11
