Re: Telnet forbid

Hello Ralf,

in Hp-ux you have the file inetd.conf where you can configure the options of different internet services . You can have a look at the man page of inetd.conf

Re: Telnet forbid

You have several options:

1) comment out the telnetd line of inet.conf inetd -c to reload.

2) Use ipfilter and block all traffic on port 23 inbound.

Inbound to your server ?

or

outbound from your server to another server?

solutions posted work for inbound.

Re: Telnet forbid

As Harry already said, above solutions work for only
inbound connections. If that's what you want, then
fine. But, if you need more flexibility, you could use
IPFilter. The flexibilities you have with IPFilter are:

1) blocking/alowing only inbound OR only outbound
OR both.

2) blocking/allowing telnet to/from specific IP
address, network or IP address range.

3) blocking/allowing telnet through an interface only
(i.e all telnets through lan0 allowed and lan1
blocked).

4) allowing specific number of inbound/outbound
connections (i.e only 1 outbound at any time OR
only 1 inbound for each unique IP address in the
network).
