telnet limit

Hi
I have a probelem with the number of the telnet
my npty = 350 nsrtyp= 180

The maximum quanty the users that can connect to my hpux 10.20 box are 60 and after this quantity the server send a error :

Local flow control off
Connection closed by foreign host.

The time is gold

Hi,

Both of these do not effect no. of telnet sessions. The parameter you should check should be nstrtel. The default value of that is 60 And it should be same here. Increase it as required and it should be fine.

There are two places where pty allocations are limited: the kernel parameters (there are 3) and the actual number of device files. If you use SAM, this is handled automatically, but if you change your kernel by hand, you need to run insf to add more pty device files.

Use SAM and change the 3 parameters: npty, nstrpty and nstrtel to 350. When you exit SAM< it will create the needed device files, regen the kernel and reboot. Now you can have up to 350 users logins.
