telnet localhost 143 Connection closed by foreign host.


Hi

I installed following depot files for pop3 and imap but pop3 is working fine, but imap is not working when i am doing telnet to localhost on 143, i am getting following error, please help me .
uasng074@root# telnet localhost 143
Trying...
Connected to localhost.corporate.ge.com.
Escape character is '^]'.
Connection closed by foreign host.

Looks like it is working - you were connected.

Try netstat -an |grep 143

Should see something like:

tcp 0 0 :::143 :::* LISTEN
tcp 0 0 ::ffff:127.0.0.1:143 ::ffff:127.0.0.1:38579 TIME_WAIT

Shalom,

thats a normal test response when a daemon is listening.

Thats what my imap daemon (dovecot) does when you directly connect to port 143.
