Re: telnet sessions get terminated
Once the telnet session hangs what do you do?. Do you close the telnet session by say right clicking on the telnet session icon on the task bar and clicking close ?. If you are doing that, it will close all the telnet sessions. What you should do is to let the telnet session that got hung, return on its own. It takes some time and then return with an error saying the ip/gateway has not been found. click ok and you can cancel that session.
hope this helps.
thanks

Re: telnet sessions get terminated
Do you have any server with that IP address?
Find what is that IP first then we can help further.
What is the IP of your server?
Thanks

Re: telnet sessions get terminated
If you can't ping no point in trying telnet.
If you can ping then , the telnet port 23 may be blocked either at the firewall or at the destination server. In such case you will get an error stating "connection timed out" in case if it is blocked by irewall , "connection refused" appears after hannging for certain time.

Re: telnet sessions get terminated
As 234.235.236.237 was entered as a Random Ip address ) we can't say it's class by just seeing the Ip addres alone.
as per my understanding ,we need to know it's subnetmask.
subnetmask for class A,B.C is,
255.255.255.0 for class C
255.255.0.0 for class B
255.0.0.0 for class A

Re: telnet sessions get terminated
Thanx,
My telnet session alone doesnt hang. It is the system that hangs ( No more telnet connections are accepted ) . All the existing telnet sessions to that system freeze for a while and after some time they get terminated. Afte this happens, the sytems starts accepting telnet connections. Donno wht is happening.
Regarding the IP address, it was entered randomly.
Thanx
Ramu
