Telnet through WAN failed
Hi,
I met a very strange problem with HP9000-D280:
Every morning,I mean after sleeping of a whole night, far end users can not telnet/ping the server through WAN until at least 1 of the local users telnet/ping the server.
Which seems that the server shall be wake up through LAN but not through WAN.
Thus problems do not happen to other NT servers

Re: Telnet through WAN failed
Hi,
is your router config is correct, since router can be configured to be active during a time interval and sleep rest of the time. and also check /etc/.rhosts and /etc/hosts.equiv file whether the entry for remote users is there or not.

Re: Telnet through WAN failed
Have one of the remote users try a traceroute
(tracert on windows) when the connection is up.
Then have them try again when the connection
is down. The problem should be at the first
connection not showing on the second list, or
between that connection, and the last connection
on the second list.
Your router may stop routing to the device if
it goes to sleep and stops sending out ARP
announcements.
