telnetd error

Hello,

I have couple of telnetd errors this morning from 10:50 to 10:56 am, the error messages look like these in the syslog file:

Nov 6 10:50:46 ERP telnetd[25223]: getpid: peer died: Error 0
Nov 6 10:50:53 ERP telnetd[25224]: getpid: peer died: Error 0
Nov 6 10:51:10 ERP telnetd[25226]: getpid: peer died: Error 0
Nov 6 10:51:25 ERP telnetd[25292]: getpid: peer died: Error 0
Nov 6 10:51:38 ERP telnetd[25294]: getpid: peer died: Error 0

Could you please tell me what's wrong with the network? I tried to log into telnet session at that period of time, it didn't work.

Thanks a bunch

Leah

Re: telnetd error

Apparently, you have a network interruption in that period. Check your /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log, you may find some information to confirm the network interruption there. Talk to your network admin. Maybe they know this interruption.

Re: telnetd error

i found this error message before the telnet error:

Nov 6 10:43:01 ERP bootpd[1670]: Option 43: Client specified unacceptable option length (88 octets)
Nov 6 10:50:46 ERP telnetd[25223]: getpid: peer died: Error 0

Is this related?

Thanks

Re: telnetd error

Leah,
your machine seems to need a bit of looking at:

Restart bootpd, but still would investigate network problem.
