I'm trying to install hp-ux using a laptop as my terminal. I'm using the hyper terminal console emulation. When the system prompts me for my terminal type, at first I chose hp but the screen was muddled. I also tried vt100 but same result. Has anybody tried this successfully? What setting did you use? Hope you can help.
Thanks,
ROMMEL

Solution
Hi Rommel,
These are the settings I use for hyperterminal/putty
Speed (baud) 9600
Data bits 8
Stop bits 1
Parity None
Flow control XON/XOFF
I you select the session in hyperterminal, click file, properties and settings, change the terminal type to VT100.
Hope this helps,
Robert-Jan

Re: terminal emulation using hyper terminal
The default of hyperterminal is auto detect and ansi - most of the time the reason for problems. Set it to vt100 via the properties window or even better - use putty.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
