Terminal setting for Console on 11.x

I've tried searching the forum for this answer, but search is not responding to me right now! I've just got a new N box that had a minimal OS on it, I am trying to reinstall to get the paritions the way I want them, and the console is displaying just "jibberish". The console is a 700/96 and its default setting for my 10.20 boxes was HP term type, other options are EM100 EM220 and EM52 - which will take my jibberish away and give me something readable? Or is it something else?

Re: Terminal setting for Console on 11.x

Try changing the terminal baud rate to 9600 from the Menu key beside F4.
You can set to hp emulation and export TERM=hp
Later,
Bill
It works for me (tm)

Bill,

Thanks for trying but the baud rate is already 9600.

Re: Terminal setting for Console on 11.x

It turned out that when the new machines ship, the GSP has a default terminal setting of vt100 and this will interfere with the connected consolet. I had to do a ^B to get into GSP, do a ca and then tell it I wanted my terminal type to be hpterm.

After that, everything is working fine.

Hi Tracey,

Try setting your term to 70096.

export TERM=77096
