Testing standby LAN

We are preparing to move our LAN connections to new switches. I want to move the standby LAN connection, verify the connection, then move production connection. I anticipate the packages to switch to the standby LAN when I unplug the production connection. If I remember my training correctly Serviceguard checks the status of the standby lan once an hour. Is there a way I can manually check the standby LAN status?

Any input would be appreciated.

Re: Testing standby LAN

Hi,

SG should detect instantly when you unplug the LAN cable to your standby LAN connection, and should also instantly detect when you plug it into the new switch, assuming that everything on the switch is good and it gets a link. You can monitor this in your syslog.log file.

Re: Testing standby LAN

You can use 'linkloop' to check LAN connectivity.

John,

I though lanadmin showed the hardware address. But I didn't see it. I've forgotten how to get that.
