Re: TFTP Load Balancing?
Another thing, why must you boot them all at the same time? Can you record the beeping noise for me? I'd love to hear 4500 xterms booting up all at one time!!
I actually had nightmares about it ;)

Bill

Re: TFTP Load Balancing?
Hehe, yeah, seeing the terminals all boot is quite a sight! Actually, they are all on the trading floor (we [the computers] are off site), and as far as i know, we reboot them a post at a time (about 250 XTerms).
The GateD was for a different problem/situation. Maybe you are right, i'll just wait until we goto 100BaseT...
Cheers for all the help!

Solution
Hey Robin,
just saw a post there, that suggests a network card load balancing sw from hp that will allow up to 5 network interfaces on your server to respond to the xterms initial tftp.
It might do the trick:
http://www.software.hp.com/cgi-bin/swdepot_parser.cgi/cgi/displayProductInfo.pl?productNumber=J4240AA

Re: TFTP Load Balancing?
Bill, may your servers never crash, and your backups be true! :)
Thank you, looks perfect!!! I'll try and get a demo, see how it works in our situation...
Cheers,
Robin
