Thanks - one final question

Thanks for all the great information! One final question: If I bring the secondary NIC card online will I see any problems as a result? I understand (now) that it may not solve any performance problems; but, I do not want to introduce any "new" problems by enabling it ;-).

Thanks,
Carey

Yes ,I think you will have problems of *some* kind. Not knowing what your server runs I cannot say exactly what problems you will have, but I will strongly advise you against attaching the second NIC unless you are absolutely certain how your apps. behave.

Re: Thanks - one final question

I haven't read the previous information, but I do have this to say.

A second NIC Card should not effect your server or application, unless you attempt to make it the same IP Address.

As long as you are providing some form of Name Resolution and the Names and IP Addresses are unique, you should not experience any problems.

Once you have that established, you may decide to unite the two NICs to the same Hostname in order to achieve additional Network throughput.

Hope that helps.
