The HP-UX Software Recovery Handbook

The HP-UX Software Recovery Handbook

The HP-UX Software Recovery Handbook is now available to support contract customers on the ITRC web site.

This series of HP-UX software cookbooks has just been published on the ITRC Knowledge Trees web site <>. They have all been updated and many of the chapters are new. You can read the cookbooks in PDF format, on-line, you can print them, or you can download the individual chapters (just right click on the PDF icon and choose "Save Target As" in IE or "Save Link As..." in Netscape).

Every HP-UX System Administrator should have a Disaster Recovery Plan, for each of their HP-UX servers. These cookbooks allow for that use and System Administrators can compile just the chapters that apply to a specific system. Unlike most manuals and other KMine documents, these cookbooks include step-by-step procedures and real examples.

There are 28 chapters today and more can be expected in the future. The cookbooks include a wide range of HP-UX Enterprise products and sub-systems, including System Installation, System Boot, System Startup, SD-UX, Patches, JFS, LVM, VxVM, IUX, iCOD and more. They can be found directly under the Software section of the Knowledge Trees (see menu below) accessible to all HP employees and any customers with Software support agreements. (Please review the Terms of Use - these documents should not be re-printed or altered in any way).

Your comments, suggestions, and ideas are encouraged, using the standard document feedback for each document, or anywhere in the Knowledge Trees.

Re: The HP-UX Software Recovery Handbook

But I have to login over and over and over and over again, and don't get to the book by your link (maybe something to report in Dan's issues)

I can (eventually) reach http://support4.itrc.hp.com/service/cki/search.do?category=c0&mode=text&searchString=Software+Recovery+Handbook&searchCrit=exactphrase&docType=Security&docType=Patch&docType=EngineerNotes&docType=BugReports&docType=Hardware&docType=ReferenceMaterials&docType=ThirdParty&search.x=27&search.y=8 but when I enter "Software Recovery Handbook" [Search] doesn't find anaything

Is this a european issue again?

Now if you had just put that message into wrap mode as it overflowed my screen at least 2 or three times.

Thanks, looking at the info now.

Re: The HP-UX Software Recovery Handbook

Hi,
I've got the impression you can only reach these documents if your login is coupled to a System Handle (if you have an HP support contract). I myself can not reach them ... :-(

Could this be your problem Procura ?

Tom
A life ? Cool ! Where can I download one of those from ?

Re: The HP-UX Software Recovery Handbook

FYI for everyone: The screen width is due to the URL that procura posted. The software that the ITRC uses apparently doesn't know how to break up the URL into multiple lines and keep it usable so it creates one LONG line.

At this point, that's just the way it is.

Re: The HP-UX Software Recovery Handbook

Hi,

Nice Initiative. thanks.

We will definitely need this document for our forthcoming installations...

However, the file does not seem to be accessible:

knowledge trees requires an additional step to proceed

Please continue with one of the following options:
1. Check access requirements for Knowledge Trees. If you own a Support Agreement or Warranty which provides access to this service, you can enable access now.

2. If someone else in your organization has access to this service via a Support Agreement or Warranty, then you can ask that person to share access privileges with you (this option is available from the My Profile area after that person logs in). Not applicable for ITRC Services purchased online.

3. For more information about access to this service, please contact an HP Support Representative.

I am an HP customer and have Warranty on all my New Servers, how i get the required information?

Thanks and
Regards
Yogeeraj
