Time differnce

Hello:

I am seeing a problem on a 11i system where system time/date stamp and the "touch" is differnt. For example when I:

$ touch x; ll x; date
-rw-rw-rw- 1 beaumont users 9612 Aug 7 16:38 x
Wed Aug 7 16:42:11 EDT 2002

**Note the 4 minute delta between the file timestamp and the system time.

Has anyone ever seen this?

Re: Time differnce

Scott,

That is very weird and interesting. I ran your test on my computer. The times are the same.

Re: Time differnce

Is the file on *another* 'server', i.e. via NFS, Samba/CIFS, etc.? If so, that explains it, i.e. the client and the server do not have excatly the same time.

Re: Time differnce

hello,

If you don't have time synchronization and if you are touching a file remotely or through nfs mount, this can happen.
