timezone for Peru

Hi, I want to set TZ to an affordable value for Peru.

Actually I have it set to SAT5.

Is it Ok GMT-5?

SAT5 is a valid setting.

Yes, SAT5 is correct for Peru.

This can be set by:

# set_parms timezone
South America > "Peru, Equador, Columbia"

Yesterday I had a problem with a management system, this system use some libraries from the HP-UX OS to set the timezone for itself, for september 1, it was an hour delayed and that's why it was not working.

So I was thinking the problem was the TZ, what could have happpened?

Can anyone explain me anything about it?

You should do a man tztab and then find your entry in /usr/lib/tztab. You should also do a man 5 environ and look at the TZ section; it explains things rather well. In a few cases, you actually have to build a tztab entry when lawmakers change things before new entries can be created.

Ooops, I hit [Submit] too quickly. Note that a setting of "SAT5" does no changing to daylight savings/standard time but always remains 5 hours West of UTC so that you may need another setting.
