to boot the haulted vpar
we have ia64 hp superdome server SD32B superdome server. In that machine we have 2 npar 1.nile 2.amazon.
in nile we have 7 vpars. in one of them we have unknowingly removed the vpar proverder software. Then system asked for the reboot and its given ok to reboot. After that system gets haulted.
vPar "ipmsapp5" failed to load the kernel for either trying to boot an unsupported kernel in vPars environment or having incorrect vPars software installed on the boot device.
Error loading "ipmsapp5". Shutting down "ipmsapp5"...
[MON] ipmsapp5 has halted.
MON>
Now we are unable to boot the machine.
Can any one help me to reboot the machine?
Thanks
Azaru

Re: to boot the haulted vpar
This make a difference.
The question is - WHY?
As long as no vPARs software is installed, you will not be able to boot this partition.
Consider to restore your backup!
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: to boot the haulted vpar
We are trying to implement the VM integrity ti itanium machines. But if vpar software is there its not possible to install the VM software. That is the mistake we did. So is there any possibilities to boot the vpar without affecting the other vpars?

Re: to boot the haulted vpar
It is not possible to install HPVM inside a VPAR - this is NOT supported.
Restore the backup to get this vPAR running again.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: to boot the haulted vpar
Of course, it will see all of the other hardware, as you cannot boot into VPar mode without the VPar software.
And as Torsten says, if you wish to use VM on this NPar, you will need to remove all of teh VPars and the softwrae first
