Tool for repair from accidental deletions

Hi All,
anybody knows if tools such as tct (the coroner's toolkit) or something of similiar exist for HPUX 11iv1? Is a depot available? Does a command like unrm (undo rm for solaris) exist?
Thanks!

Ivan,
no tools, no undelete. But you can replace the rm command with your own version, which might move the file to be deleted to a 'recycle bin'.

Re: Tool for repair from accidental deletions

Thanks Peter!
But now it's too late.
I made a mistake (I believed to on a machine instead on another one removing several production files). Searching in the web I read about unsupported usrm command for solaris and I hoped it existed for HPUX as well.
But seems no... :-(

Re: Tool for repair from accidental deletions

Ivan,
my initial thoughts were as above, but after some checking in the archives:
http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/bizsupport/questionanswer.do?threadId=463067

But this solution (please note: NOT tested) assumes a lot of information is known (inode numbers etc.)
It also mentions the replacement option.

Re: Tool for repair from accidental deletions

In practical terms, UNIX filesystems create and remove files so often that file recovery is extremely unlikely. By the time you could get a filesystem unmounted, it's quite likely that portions of the files in question would already be overwritten so recovery is difficult. UNIX takes the position that you know what you are doing and if you have the proper permissions then it executes your commands.

If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: Tool for repair from accidental deletions

Please note that TCT only works with FFS type filesystems, which in case of HP-UX means HFS, whereas journaling type filesystems like JFS/VxFS are not supported.

Re: Tool for repair from accidental deletions

Thanks Robert,
the link you applied is what I see before post the question..
But it refers to hpux 10.20 and 11.00 and there are only source files.
