TOP Out put

Hi all ,

Any one explain me what is the LOAD value refers in a top out put , under CPU state .


Cpu states:
CPU LOAD USER NICE SYS IDLE BLOCK SWAIT INTR SSYS
0 1.29 0.0% 95.0% 0.0% 5.0% 0.0% 0.0% 0.0% 0.0%
1 0.27 1.0% 2.9% 6.9% 89.2% 0.0% 0.0% 0.0% 0.0%
2 0.30 0.0% 0.0% 3.9% 96.1% 0.0% 0.0% 0.0% 0.0%
3 0.42 0.0% 72.5% 2.9% 24.5% 0.0% 0.0% 0.0% 0.0%
4 0.40 0.0% 6.9% 1.0% 92.2% 0.0% 0.0% 0.0% 0.0%
5 0.36 1.0% 8.8% 4.9% 85.3% 0.0% 0.0% 0.0% 0.0%

Load = load average per CPU.
Load averages in the last one, five, and fifteen minutes of all the active processors in the system.

HI,

Could you please tell me what should be the value of this in ideal condition.

I mean if i am planing to impliment an alaram on my server depends on the load value . what should be the threshold for this monitoring

That is something only you can answer. You must monitor your server and figure what is normal for you. Once you have that information you can construct your alarm appropriately.

Hi Nair,

If you want to implement an alarm system then glance will be a better tool to look into.
