top question - urgent

One of my rp3440 machine was overused by some wrong sql ?'s . From the below top output my understaing is used real mem is 4903328k and virual(swap) mem is 7486404k and the free real(physical mem) is 1290416k.is that correct.

Memory: 4903328K (4640356K) real, 7486404K (7129892K) virtual, 1290416K free P

2) around 9 am this morning all the app was stopped still the free mem showed only 6 gb ,but the box has 16gb - what's the deal with the other 10 gb at that time

Top is not always accurate. Glance is better.


HPUX all by itself with the kernel and basic processes uses about 1GB of RAM. ( this is only an estimate )

Buffer cache takes another chunk depending on how you have the kernel set.


Give us some more info.

kmtune|grep dbc
